Every SUNDAY 3.45pm-4.45pm ESSENTIALS series 4.50 pm-6pm CHALLENGE level Essentials series must be completed to participate in Challenge lesson. Next Essentials series starts January 10 2010 EVERY WEDNESDAY 8 pm-9pm Essentials Next Essentials series starts January 13 2010 Essentials graduates are encouraged to repeat the Essentials series as often as possible. Repeating ESSENTIALS will reinforce the correct technique and will assist new West Coasters by giving them the opprtunity of dancing with someone who is not just a beginner. This will help them learn faster and better. West Coast Swing [Sophisticated Swing] [West Coast Boogie Woogie] Sophisticated Swing is the name given to Boogie Woogie as danced to slow and extremely slow music, before it became known as West Coast Swing. It incorporates the 'slot' rule of dancing while not restricting changes of slot direction during the dance. Moves are 6 & 8 beat configuration, starting at beginners level with predominantly 6 beat moves. LESSONS ESSENTIALS AT 4:00 PM SUNDAYS, 8:00 PM WEDNESDAYS CHALLENGE at 5:00 PM SUNDAYS (must be a graduate of our Essentials series) @ UNITING CHURCH HALL, 2 Grant St Innaloo The lessons are purely to teach social dancing. That is, we'll give you all the info you need to dance correctly, but we won't be too finicky if you don't happen to do it perfectly. Lesson costs are $10 for the 4pm lesson or the 5 pm lesson or $15 for both. Repeating Essentials for the third and subsequent times is free, provided you participate in one other class that day. We utilise the US syllabus [they did invent the dance!] so any time any of our students travel and dance anywhere in the world, they can be confident of being able to dance West Coast with anyone they happen to meet. [No surprises, nothing unknown] If you want to learn, please come along for the first time only on the first or second lesson of each series as it is too much to catch up if you miss the first two lessons. After that, please wait until we've finished our 14 Essentials series. We'll keep you posted if you keep coming back here to check.
